The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of David Beck can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for David Beck

David Beck
Judge David Bruce Beck, the Dancing Bear, faithful husband, loving father, and grandfather left this world on Saturday, September 2 after a courageous, hard-fought battle with ALS. Dave was born on November 19, 1947 in Sharon, PA to his loving parents, Skip and Moie Beck. Dave was an avid athlete, runner, biker, and swimmer until his last days. He loved football, his family, and sitting on the porch listening to the rain. He was a dedicated volunteer coach with the Special Olympics, a selfless servant on many boards and organizations, and was connected to countless individuals and communities through his service. Dave was an alumnus of Seabreeze High School, Lafayette College, and UF Law School. He served as a 1st Lieutenant MP in the US Army during Vietnam. The Volusia County Veterans Court was named in his honor. His hilarious sense of humor, humble heart, free and loving spirit lives on through the countless lives he touched.

He is survived by his beautiful wife Carolyn and six children. Son Tim and Nicole Beck (Seattle, WA) grandchildren Justin, Alexis, and Jolie. Daughter Lisa and Kyle Mas (Orlando, FL) grandchildren JD, Abby, and Grace. Son Doug and Jesseca Beck (Ormond Beach, FL) grandchildren Kylie, Brady, Colton, and Oliver. Son Dan Beck and Morgan Gentry (Atlanta, GA). Daughter Katie and Rob Zarajczyk (Corvallis, OR) grandpuppy Cali. Daughter Molly Beck (Seattle, WA) grandpuppy Gabe.

His family welcomes the sharing of love and support from all who felt connected to him. Please join us for a celebration of his life at 4:00 p.m.on Friday September 15th at the ICI Center at Embry Riddle, Daytona Beach. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to an organization he supported: the ALS foundation, the Special Olympics of Volusia County, the Veterans Support Fund of Volusia County, or Halifax Hospice.

Arrangements entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Condolences and memories are welcome to be shared with the family via this online guestbook.
