Evelyn McDonald 93 of Ormond Beach FL passed away peacefully on May 5 2013. Evelyn was born on May 12 1919 in Pensacola FL to Julius and Mattie Strickland.

She attended school in Pensacola and Tampa FL. During World War II she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter". Evelyn was the second employee to be hired at Tropical Telco Federal Credit Union in Miami. She began her career in 1943 and retired in 1983 as the Assistant General Manager. As Assistant General Manager Evelyn directed the operations' activities of the Tropical Telco Headquarters and three branch offices. She was also Credit Committee Chairperson.

Evelyn and her husband John moved from Miami to Ormond Beach in 1988 to be near their daughter. Evelyn had an active and fulfilling retirement. She enjoyed her years in Ormond Beach and made many friends. She was the treasurer for the Museum of Arts and Science Guild for seven years and was voted a Lifetime member by the board of the Museum Guild for her many years of dedication. She was also the treasurer for three years for the Halifax Art Festival. Evelyn was a member of the Symphony Guild and a member of the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters Deborah (James) of Ormond Beach FL and Shirley (William) of Warrenton VA a granddaughter Michele (Billy) great grandchildren Bennett and Celie her sister Carol and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband John. She will be missed by many friends and family.

Memorial services for Evelyn will be held at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church 105 Amsden Road Ormond Beach on Saturday May 11 2013 at 11:00 am.
