Obituary:
Arnold G. Peterson, “Arnie”, 93, went to be with our Lord on November 8, 2009. Arnie was born on June 13, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois during the Great Depression. After WWII ended, he met his late wife Mary, to whom he adored, and was married for 46 years. Arnie worked for many years as a Project Supervisor in the manufacturing industry prior to his retirement. In 1990, he relocated to Port Orange. He enjoyed music, was a tremendous sports fan, and was especially fond of the Chicago Bears football team. He had a quick whit and was always the life of the party. Arnie was a member of a rare breed; he lived by example and blessed us all with his inspirational love of life and his family. His smile will remain in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved daughters; Carol (Brian) Cullen, Christine Peterson (Thomas) Bray, Anna (Robert) Jennings, Bette (Nevin) Hahn; brothers Harry and Howard Peterson; sister Shirley Benchelt; grandchildren Jennifer Bartone, Paul Cullen, Nevin Hahn III, Jeff Hahn, Eric Hahn, Amanda Jennings, Melissa Jennings, Peterson Jennings; several nieces and nephews and dearest friend of 15 years, Betty Schale. He was predeceased by his wife Mary and brother Stanley. A memorial service will be held on November 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Covenant United Methodist Church, 3701 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129. Internment will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Lemont, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or Covenant United Methodist Church.
