Obituary:
Dencil Kent “Whitey” White, age 75 of Prot Orange passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. A funeral mass will be held in his honor at 8:30 am, Friday, December 18, 2009, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, Interment will take place at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in West Monroe, LA at a later date. Dencil was born in Smithers, West Virginia to Bennell and Nellie White. He dedicated his life serving his country in the US Air Force with foreign tours of duty in Japan, Germany, Newfoundland and Thailand. After retirement from the USAir Force he attended Louisianan State University in Monroe, LA, where he received a BA in Criminal Justice, and worked several years as a Probation Officer. He was an outgoing, fun loving gentleman who enjoyed family, travel and cooking. He leaves behind a son Michael White, and Michael’s wife Betty; his beloved companion of 37 years; Sybil M. Foster, Sybil’s daughter and family; Ann and Russell Shuping and their son Larry Shuping and daughter Amelia Embley. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Beach.
