Funeral Services for John H. “JH” Brown, age 87, who went to be with the Lord Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 22nd at 11am at Calvary Christian Center with Pastor Jennifer Woods officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park North. His family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 21st from 6-8pm in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. John was born in Carvur, Florida, was a veteran of the US Army, and graduated from Stetson University, earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. He had a long and fulfilling 32 year career in elementary education with Volusia County School Board. John touched the lives of thousands of students over the years and to this day, John was continually recognized by his former students. Athletic and competitive, John enjoyed entertaining his students and friends with his acrobatic abilities including his famous back flip for which he was known. He captained a tumbling team, played softball through the age of 79 and was still playing competitive horseshoes twice a week joined by his wife. John was a member of Calvary Christian Center and supported many charitable organizations. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, mother of Brian (Donna) of Daytona Beach and Rick Elsner of Colorado, his three daughters Joy Doran of Daytona Beach, FL, Carol Brown (Fred) of Richmond, TX, Susan Hageman (Bart) of Ormond Beach, FL, his son Kiffin Brown (Jean) of Cleveland, TN, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Brown. Memorial Donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, 533 N Nova Rd, #206, Ormond Beach, FL, 32174.
