Obituary:
Charles Joseph Dietz, Jr., 85, Port Orange, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009. A funeral service will be held in his honor on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, FL with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park. Family will receive friends today (Tuesday, December 22) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Charles was born on August 7, 1924 in Ridgewood, NY to the late Charles and Rose Dietz. He moved to Port Orange, FL in 1985 from North Massapequa, NY. He retired as an underwriter from Home Insurance Co. of NY. Charles loved to garden and enjoyed all the sports. Charles also enjoyed woodworking. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ann Dietz, Port Orange; sons, Charles (Gail), Edgewater, Thomas (Bobbie), Port Orange, Philip, Port Orange and William (Lisa), Ormond by the Sea; daughter, Barbara (Bill) Westfall, Port Orange; sisters, Madeline, Lee, Mildred and Muriel. He is preceded in death by one sister, Gloria; also survived by 14 loving grandchildren, five loving great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
