Obituary:
William “Bill” Haile, of Port Orange and Mountain City, TN passed away in his home surrounded by those he loved on Wednesday, December 23, 2009. A 1:00 visitation and 2:00 PM funeral service in his honor will be held Saturday, December 26, 2009; at the Daytona Chapel of the Lohman Funeral home. Interment and a Fort Myer Chapel services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on March 11, 2010; 11:00 AM. Bill was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Alston and Emma Haile. He was a dedicated US Army veteran of three wars; WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, and served as the Dean of John Tyler Community College. Mr. Haile received his BS from the University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. He was a proud member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church in Boone N. Carolina, the Kiwanis Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Military Officers Association. Bill was a strong, organized, patriot with a heart of gold; loved to read and traveled in many circles and to various places to discover all the world has to offer. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Mary, a daughter Leslie Haile Seddon; Fairfax, VA,and her husband John, a son by marriage Andrew Carlton and his wife Pamela; Mountain City, TN, a sister Margaret “Peggy” Thomas; Lakeland, FL , a grandson John Seddon III and his wife Beata; San Diego, CA.
