Doreen Carolyne Gumpert was reunited with the love of her life on February 2, 2010. Doreen was born on August 13, 1938 in Hackensack, New Jersey to Maurice and Caroline Moffett. She spent her youth in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Doreen met her once true love in the summer of 1952, Barton Gumpert. Bart and Doreen married on June 8, 1957. Their love was one found often only in fairy tales. Doreen and Bart moved to Pelican Bay in October 1994. Doreen was very active in the tennis club, and loved meeting new people. Doreen enjoyed working behind the scenes on many functions to improve the club. Doreen valued and loved her many friends. Doreen was a wonderful, caring mother to her two children: Captain Barton C. Gumpert, MC, USN (Mindy) and Carol L. Benjamin (Scott).
Doreen was a loving grandmother to six wonderful grandchildren: Caroline, Andrew, Alison, Candace, Jessica and Bart, III. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing WII, Backgammon, tennis, shopping, and taking trips.
Doreen is also survived by her sister, Patricia Gordon (Bill), a niece, Katherine Warner (Rus), and a nephew, Ronald Hale (Carie). She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and many cousins in Pennsylvania. Doreen was loved by many, and will be deeply missed especially by all her special friends in Pelican Bay and in Atlanta, Georgia. All who truly know her know that she is finally just where she wanted to be…
With her true Love. A memorial Service will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 at 4:00 pm at the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, with a reception immediately following. All friends are invited to attend.
Memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice.
